Is Your Desert Home Ready for Your Return? After your Desert home has been empty of a while or rented out, you’ll want to line things up ahead of time, so your Desert home is ready for your arrival.
What to do Now
Delivery of your Subscribed Publications –
If you want to keep your newspapers and magazines coming while you’re in Coachella Valley, you will want to contact them before you come out. However, if you don’t want to have them following you or piling up in your mailbox, you will want to put them on hold. This may need to be done at least 30 days before to make sure the publication is forwarded or held.
Need Internet/TV Service?
Contact your carriers to let them know when to turn on your service.
Swimming Pool
A week or two before your arrival, you will want to have your pool completely serviced and cleaned. You’ll want to make sure they include the filters.
Cleaning
You’ll want to reach out to your housecleaners about two to three weeks before you arrive to schedule a thorough cleaning. You’ll want to remind them to clean the ceiling fans and light fixtures. If they will also clean the windows, that is a bonus. Otherwise, you’ll want to contact your service who will also wash your windows.
Along with getting your home in shape, you’ll want to get your yard and patio in shape as well. Contact your lawn service to make sure they take care of any weeds or overgrowth before your arrival.
Fireplace
You’ll want to line up a local chimney sweep to make sure your wood burning fireplace is cleaned and inspected before you ever light a fire.
Concierge Services
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a fully stocked cupboard and refrigerator? There are services for that and now would be a great time to line them up so you won’t have to shop for groceries when you get to the Desert.
Once You Get to the Desert
- Replace your smoke alarm and CO detector batteries.
- Replace furnace filters and possibly have your system cleaned and serviced.
- Test your gas grills and fireplaces.
- Take out your patio furniture to clean – you may need to get out your stored hoses for that.
The most important thing to do is to let me know when you’re going to be here! I would love to see you while you’re here!
