Decorating with Brown Tones. If you have been looking at Palm Springs and La Quinta interior designs recently, there seems to be a common theme … hues of brown throughout the designs. The color brown making a comeback in 2022 and used a lot in furniture, flooring, and accents.
Why is that?
Brown is a Basic Earth Tone
“Right now, there’s a shift from cool greys and bright whites to warmer tones like brown, rust, and green,” Jenna Schumacher of Insert Design Studio notes. “Brown is an amazing and classic color, lending itself to nearly any palette.” (Spruce)
Since the color “brown” covers a large spectrum of colors and hues, from “taupe” to dark rich brown, the versatility and timelessness of the color blends with any décor. It also can create a dilemma when landing on an actual brown color – there are just SO many shades!
Brown Adds Richness in Color and Texture
Nothing brings richness into a room than brown leather furniture or rich warm woods. Pair that with brown hues textiles it adds so much to a room.
Browns also make great accent colors if you just want to bring a touch of it on a room. Wood accent pieces or pillows will warm any room.
Using all brown tones may start looking a bit drab. According to TZR, you need to layer.
Rise to Warm Minimalism
While minimalism is usually interpreted as all-white (white sofas, white flooring, white accents), brown is found to be comforting yet neutral. Shades of brown brings earthiness, warmth and a timeless calm and grounding.
If you’re worried that brown is just a fad, the good news is that brown is timeless and will be around forever.
