Is there an easy way to figure how much paint you need for a room? For anyone who tries a paint project may find out soon that it’s easier to higher it down. However, for those who aren’t faint of heart and find pride in a finished project, I may have a paint calculator for you!
The Spruce website published an article a few months again on this subject and provided a great calculator you can either visit their website and use or use the one below.
You’ll need to grab a tape measurer or a handy electronic eye measurer and measure the height and width of each wall. Be sure to take into account the windows and if you want to paint the ceiling. Are you covering a dark or light wall? How many coats do you think will take to cover? Remember, the darker the wall the more it will take to cover it. When you have your measurements done, enter them into the calculator below and it will tell you how much paint you will need.

The paint calculator is assuming that one gallon of paint will cover roughly 350 feet. However, the quality of paint you choose may vary the coverage.
The calculator is also estimating the windows to be 15 square feet and the door at 20 square feet. Larger door and window openings will lessen the amount of paint you will be using.
