Stay Cool this Weekend! The temperatures will be quite “warm” this weekend and this week. Overnight temps will hover around 90 degrees, so it’ll still be pretty hot when we wake up. So rather than binge-watching Netflix in the House, here are a few ideas to get friends together and beat the heat!
Cooking or Baking Party:
Here’s your chance to get together with your circle of culinary experts and try different dishes. Each participant would prepare a dish and share their recipes. This would be a delicious way to beat the heat. Be sure to have copies of your recipes ready to hand out!
Arts or Crafts Party:
Break out your creative side and try something new! Try a painting class, jewelry making, or other craft-making fun. If someone is artistic, it would be great if they could give pointers. What a “cool way” to express your artsy side.
If you’re creating jewelry, have a fashion show to show your stunning creations.
Movie Marathon:
If you’re going to binge-watch a show or series, why not do it with all your friends? Each person could bring their favorite snack and/or drink to share. Ask for genre suggestions to ensure everyone knows what will be shown.
Game Day/Night:
Card or board games are always fun! Have friendly tournaments with fun (and funny) prizes for the one who wins the most games and perhaps an award for the unfortunate loser. Of course, plan to serve beverages and snacks.
Book Club / Adult Story Hour:
Host a party and have your partiers bring their favorite novel, book, or item they’re reading to share with everyone. Each person could read a passage and tell why they enjoyed that book. Be sure to have notepads around to write down the names of the books and authors.
This isn’t the first Summer it’s been hot in the Desert, and it is certainly not the last. We can find ways to stay cool, have fun and enjoy our time in the Desert.
